Me siento muy honrado de participar en este show que es un tributo a uno de los seres mas queridos y mas chingones jamas creado, GARAMON!

Si ustedes son fans de Ultraman,Godzilla y otros seres del estilo seguramente lo conocen, y si no, pues les aconsejo que vean la serie "Ultra Q" de 1966-67 en especial el episodio #13. por supuesto tambien el homenaje se extiende a Pigmon

El show cuenta con artistas y compañias de primer orden en el mundo del Kaiju, los monstruos, lo fantastico y lo extraño:

Astromonster, Plaseebo, Luke Temby de Cupco, Jeff Lamm, Gargamel, Luke Rook/Grody Shougun/Lulubell, Hellopike, Isabel Samaras, Paul Kaiju, Mark Nagata, el chingonazo de Jim Groman!, Josh Herbolsheimer, Leecifer, Toybot Studios, Rich de Mutant Vinyl, Atomic Mushroom y muchos muchos más!

EL show es organizado por FOE Gallery y Mike Nordstrom de Garamania sin duda el fan numero uno de Garamon.

February 10-March 4. Opening reception Friday, February 10 6-9pm.

Co-owner Jim Shea teams up with Michael Nordstrom of Garamania to curate GARAMANIACAL, an homage to the clunky, crusty, fish-lipped, oil-belching, high-rise-wrecking meteorite monster Garamon and his “recycled” alter ego, the friendly and excitable Pygmon. GARAMANIACAL will look at kaiju culture through the lens of these two iconic creatures, presenting information on the characters, the TV shows on which they first appeared, and the visionary artists who created them. As well, the gallery will be filled with an amazing assortment of contemporary art and toys inspired by Garamon and Pygmon

He is made with epoxy, cement, wood and acrylic paint. He stands 16" tall and 4 kilos! Massive guy! also it can be displayed without the legs and the cone alone looks pretty rad too. So far my biggest piece on the art toys scene. Totally thinking in make a smaller versions of this guy, so expect to see a little army of gnomes.

By the way... he is not mad at something the disgruntled face is not his fault, he just born like this.

El Winter Gnome esta hecho con epoxy, cemento, madera y pintado con acrílicos, mide 41 cms de alto y pesa 4 kilotes!

La piernas son removibles, puede parecer un poco bizarro pero me gusta como se ve el cono por si solo. En cuestión de art toys es mi pieza mas grande a la fecha. Definitivamente una version mas pequeña vera la luz así que preparense para un pequeño batallón de Gnomos enojados.

"The Bronze Birdo" Custom Swampy by Blamo toys for the 3rd Blamo Custom Show.

Most of the pieces of this show were wood pieces i was one of the few who choose a resin Swampy, Was hard to choose, certainly the wood one could be more true to the original but the Resin give room to explore a bit more. in any case i´m sure i want to try another custom swampy eventually.

Para el 3er Custom show de Blamo toys. Me dieron a escoger entre un Swampy de Madera y uno un poco dañado de resina.. el de madera era precioso y muy tentador pero decidi escoger el de resina porque así alguno de los artistas que no hacen escultura podrían trabajar mejor en el de madera. yo el de resina lo pude reparar sin problemas y le hice un cambio en el rostro. el cuerpo basicamente lo deje igual solo con el agregado de las plumas. Como no gane ni un premio de los toy awards me hice el mio :P

Regrese de SDCC y apenas intento ponerme al corriente con muchas cosas, una de ellas seguro ya la saben, los resultados de los " Designer Toy Awards" como les había contado estuve nominado en la lista original junto a montones de artistas, y unos días antes de la premiación se dio a conocer la llamada "short list nominees" en la cual la lista de cada categoría se redujo a solo 5 artistas, en ambas categorías en las que estuve nominado pase a las finales o a la "short list"

Como mejor customizador el ganador fue Doktor A y como artista revelación gano Jason Freeny, si bien no gane, el hecho de haber pasado a las nominaciones finales junto a artistas consagrados con mucho mas tiempo que yo en el movimiento del toy, es un gran éxito. Que siendo sincero lo que yo quería mas que ganar era tener el trofeo diseñado por Pete Fowler.

Si bien ha habido ciertas criticas con respecto a los premios, recordemos que es la primer edición y sin duda en las siguientes ediciones esos errores serán corregidos y el evento en general mejorado.

Ya veremos el próximo año si me puedo volver a colar a las finales!

Custom qee for the toy2r world tour in Mexico

I was hearing "yaheard!" show with Ritzy, Kano, Shane Jessup and Sket1, and in some point Shane mention that he likes to do his pieces for custom shows kinda child oriented, because he thinks that in the end we are making toys, and the kids will be the the future artists and fans of the whole movement of the art toy, so for me it make lot of sense that, so that's why i decide to make this custom, not as weird looking or ugly as my characters use tobe, so this guys is more friendly looking, more naive, and yes its more for the kids to like, ireally can imagine a 6 years old kid playing around with this baby lucha bear, so i hope thishelps to bring a new breed of art toy fans... the kids. :)

Estuve escuchando una entrevista con Shane Jessup, en ella el decía que el sus customs para shows los hace muy diferentes a su trabajo regular, que el cree que el futuro del art toy esta en los niños y que el hace esas piezas pensando en ellos.A mi la verdad me cayó el veinte de eso, y creo que tiene razón, es por eso que este custom lo hice un poco diferente a lo que suelo hacer, un estilo mas infantil, y mas amigable, ya saben, mis piezas suelen tener cierto humor y estilo un poco oscuro o bizarro... este es un custom que sin duda una mamá le compraría a sus hijos menores de 6 años, ojalá les guste :)

Designer Toy Awards 2011

Con la novedad (no tan nueva) que fui nominad0 en 2 categorías en los Designer Toy Awards organizado por la revista Clutter en el primer evento de premios que reconoce a lo mas destacado del art toy, la primer nominación es como mejor customizador, y la segunda como lo que se traduciría como Artista revelación del año. (aunque ya tengo 3 años en esto)

Si cuento la nominación del Greasebat de Jeff Lamm como mejor toy del año, (que como saben yo me encargue de la escultura) son tres nominaciones! Por supuesto no espero ganar, el hecho de estar en el papel junto a artistas como Doktor A, Angry Woebots, Gary Ham, Jason Freeny, Mc Bess, Scott Tolleson, Jryu, 64 colors, Chris Ryniak, K. Gosselin, Map Map, Leecifer, Rotobox, Scribe, Yoskay Yamamoto y muchos otros ya es un gustazo.

Hay algunas categorías abiertas en las que se puede votar, pero no en ninguna de las que yo estoy nominado. para la mayoría hay un jurado de expertos como el fundador de Kidrobot; Paul Budnitz, el fundador de Toy2R; Raymond Choy, y artistas de la talla de Nathan Jurevicious, Ron English, Madl, Brandt Peters, Huck Gee, SketOne, Jesse Hernandez, Brian Flynn, Tim Tsui , Eric So y muchos mas, como galerias y expertos bloggers.

Lo mas atractivo de la premiación es que el trofeo fue diseñado por el legendario Pete Fowler :D

Una de mis piezas para el G40 en ArtWhino Gallery, obviamente es un Teddy Trooper de FlyingFortress, con masivos cambios en el casco, y una cabeza totalmente nueva. (no use la delTeddy original, era un desperdicio cubrirla conepoxi)
En lo personal me gusto mucho el resultado, el colorido casimonocromatico quedo perfecto con la idea general.

I have a bunch of fun doing this piece, it was meant to be for my personal collection but then i was invited to this show by Abe Lincoln Jr and Marie Ung, and since it is a open platform show i decide to finish this guy that has been sitting on my desk unfinished for too long. So here it is... "Don Diablo"

As you can see comparing both the Og and my version the changes are in form and not in essence i already love the OG toy so i just add some Chaus flavor, great toy Justin, Txs! one more to go ;)

by request, some crappy iphone pics of this new guy im working on, here you can see the sculpt ready, fix some things, but the most important feature are the eyes, who are sculpted "inside " the head and even now it got a little paw nose ,

now ready to paint (or maybe a mold?)

I decide to not make a massive dunny hand as paw the dunny head is already bigger than the body so in this case massive hands dont work good... so its liek a baby paw, some day he will grow up and have big hands... just not now.

One more show on door, Myplastic Heart invite me along an amazing bunch of wonderful artists, all of us working on the Matt Siren "Ghost Girl" DIY version, im excited to work on this piece as soon as i have it in hand i knew what i will be doing with it.. :D Meanwhile here on the poster of the event, we can see a SUPER AMAZING custom by my UK friend Map-Map who is one of the guys i admire the most on this business. so watch out for the rest of the works, i mean 64 colors, Drilone J*Ryu, Lou Pimentel, Reactor88, Chris Ryniak, Scott Tolleson, Julie West, MArka, Abe Lincoln Jr, Jester, the Wheelbarrow, Matt Siren himself and some other artists who are new to me but im sure will be nice to be introduced to their works by this show..

Un Show más para este mes que viene (tres shows en julio) esta vez es organizado por Myplastic Heart la plataforma? la Ghost Girl de Matt Siren, estoy muy contento con esta pieza DIY el tamaño es perfecto (grandota!) y las posibilidades muchas, aunque yo en cuanto la recibí, supe que quería hacer con ella... aun sigo trabajando pero como adelanto en el poster del show pueden ver el increíble custom que hizo el buen Map-Map Son de esos trabajos que te dejan saber que no hay manera de igualarlo... esta realmente chingón.

Y eso que aún nos falta por ver otros trabajos por otros de mis artistas favoritos en el medio y unos favoritos por ustedes seguramente: 64 colors, Drilone J*Ryu, Lou Pimentel, Reactor88,Chris Ryniak, Scott Tolleson, Julie West, MArka, Abe Lincoln Jr, Jester, the Wheelbarrow, el propio Matt Siren y otros nombres que no conozco pero estoy ansioso de ver que hacen..

Fshizzy Custom • Chauskoskis

Hace ya algunos meses el diseñador Fshizz de la Republica Checa me envió una figura de resina de un personaje suyo, llamado Fshizzy ,es una plataforma muy sencilla pero la verdad muy bonita, y versátil, la calidad de la copia de resina es de primer nivel, sin burbujas o fallas técnicas.

Tengo terminado este custom desde hace varios meses también, pero por esas extrañas cosas que a veces suceden en mi mente (...como daño cerebral) olvidaba publicar las fotos, pues bueno, hoy finalmente y pidiendo publica disculpa al buen Alexander, a quien esta mi "Fshizzy"

En fotos pierde detalles de textura en la pintura, que se hacen con tela de mosquitero o materiales similares como telas bordadas o rejillas metálicas. Es una técnica que probare de vez en cuando y que es muy común en los customs de toys Kaiju.

Long time ago czech designer Fshizz send me over his Resin toy Fshizzy , who is a wonderful platform to work or even leaving it white as it comes is great looking (i was tempted to leave it as it was) well, i have ready the custom a couple months a go but for reasons that happen in my head ( not brain damage.. no.) i simply keep forgetting about post it. so i feel terrible about the long delay Alex, but last months has been crazy and i guess i too desorganized and clueless sometimes... my apologies my friend.

Back to the resin, Fshizzy is a super well done solid resins with 3 points of articulation, arms and head, no bubbles on the surface and a great size and feel on hand, plus fresh and simple design.. thats why i decide to keep it simple on the sculpt, cos i really like the shape of it, also was temped to do just some paint application, but seems like a lil sculpt wont hurt too much :)

Pictures not shown some spray details on the piece, but believe me, they look nice!

Emo-Luchador, Ya se ya se, el perro no tiene que ver con el personaje o el mazo jejej

cambie de idea sobre el diseño de personaje como 4 veces, 4 ideas que me gustaban pero solo un toy, hice el perro para lo que iba a ser un cavernicola con su fiel amigo, y todo cambio pero el perro realmente me gusto y no pude deshecharlo asi que... lo deje a pesar de la aparente incoherencia :P

This was a super fun figue to work on, but i have too many good ideas in the end is like an hybrid of those ideas LOL , my fav part is the cup as hat/helmet and about the dog and the club well those were for my OG idea, but i really like them so i decide to use them anyways :P

Este custom fue hecho hace mucho tiempo para un show que nunca llego.
Su nombre es Batracio Malacara, ( fue un Pecanpal de Noferin) Es mi primer custom toy en madera el motivo principal de hacerlo así, fue mantener el concepto de los toys de Noferin, madera reciclada (las piezas que yo talle salieron de un viejo palo de madera) y fieltro. Mide 6.5" aprox

Espero pronto escribir la historia de este personaje, y desarrollarlo aún mas en otros productos, personalmente los siento entre mis trabajos favoritos.

This was made for a show that sadly never happen... His name's Batracio Malacara which literally means "Batrachian Badface" in english doesnt sound too good but in spanish is kinda hillarius (at least for me) i want some name linked with frogs and amphibians "batracio is a less common word to refer to the frogs but here in mexico it really sound like a real first name ..

and the badface thing, well usually my characters arent too happy... so, its very obvious.

I decide to keep the Noferin natural feel , materials and "Soul" of the Pecanpal concept. thats why i use some pieces of wood that i found on the street and give the shape i want. so this time there is no epoxy or sculpey just wood, and i make the frog hat using some felt (same kind of material that Noferin )

A quien le gusta la madera?

mañana en la tiendita de Chaus... un custom que mantuve oculto por mucho tiempo, era destinado para un show que nunca llego a buen fin o buen comienzo... no así el custom, que es uno de mis consentidos, después de mucho pensarlo decidí ponerlo en venta ( ¿o será subasta?) no lo se aún... mañana muchas fotos.

If you like wood and you dig my stuff, this is one chance to get your hands on my first wood toy custom... it was hidden for long months, was made for a show that never take place.

So finally im showing it, and more than that, after a long thinking i decide to sell it (or up for auction? ) was a hard call since this is one of my favs customs i ever made. Be alert for news tomorrow.

Esta es mi participación para el show DEM BONEZ "The Reconstruction" Curado por Mr. Den y Nemo, El Toy a modificar es una pieza diseñada por la leyenda, el bien llamado padrino del graffitti, Richie "SEEN" Mirando, Lo que quise hacer con esta pieza fue mantener el concepto original y hacerle un homenaje a Seen, no solo esculpí practicamente todo el esqueleto, el detalle mas importante fue agregarle al cráneo una pequeña barba de candado y el ceño fruncido, ambos característicos de Richie, una lata de spray Chauskoskis y una base muy sencilla en madera con un clásico graffiti del maestro Seen. Mi tributo a una leyenda viviente.

Y lo mejor de todo es que tuve oportunidad de hacer algo que diferente a lo que me suelen ver, y que muchos creen que es mi estilo. La verdad es que no tengo un estilo o al menos así me gusta pensar, hay mucho de quien aprender e inspirarse.

This is my piece for the show: DEM BONEZ "The Reconstruction" curated by Mr Den and Nemo, As you probably see on my flickr the base toy was THIS ONE designed by Graffitti legend Richie SEEN Mirando also called the grandfather of graffitti, so my take on this one was pretty simple, pay tribute to the man himself! so basically what i did was add some features on the skull to make it look like Richie, his classic beard and the wrinkled brows, obviously i sculpt a complete skeleton, a Chauskoskis Spray can and a very simple wood base with some graffitti print by Seen. the paint job also simple, yet expressive. So this is my deadly tribute to a living legend.

The best part on this is that i have the chance to show you a different style, sometimes people think this or that is your style, but the fact is that i like to believe that i dont have any, got too much on my head and too much inspiration around, that would be crazy to stick to just the things that work for you in the past. Hope you like it and hope you expect to see more of this in the future.

My personal faves on the show: J*RYU and Toi Ogunyoku Jr oh man ! Beautiful stuff

Un Show más para este fin de mes, me quede sin Magic Sculpt , ahora espero que llegue a tiempo para poder terminar mi pieza para el Show. Esta vez hare algo diferente a lo que los tenia acostumbrados, la plataforma requiere un tratamiento diferente, asi que lo aprovechare para divertirme un poco. :)

"Dem Bonez" is the name of a vinyl platform created by the godfather of graffiti, SEEN. The show is curated by Elite Gudz's Mr Den, and this is what he to share about the origins of the show:

STORY OF DEM BONEZ FROM MR DEN: "A few years ago SEEN wanted to produce these but the company that was making them couldn't get it quite right so SEEN pulled the plug on the whole project (That's why I decided to name the show "Dem Bonez the Reconstruction".) Being that I've worked with him for about 13 years, he became a mentor of sorts so I couldn't just let the awesome platform not see the light of day. One day I approached him with the idea of letting me curate (Nemo co-curated) a custom show with all the samples that was tucked away in some little dark corner collecting dust, he said, in his Richie SEEN manner "Hey slick, take em' all. Do whatever ya want wit em'."

And the rest they say, is "legend"...

Robot #7183 was a machine from the mid 40's who has been shutdown and power less for a few decades , originally was created by Dr. Von Chaus Denburgh as a surveillance and espionage machine, but after the WWII was over and with the new technologies developed it was no longer needed.

Then, after 100 years in the darks, some unusual life grow inside of it... evolving from bacteries, dust, petrol and darkness some greasy creatures came to life inside 7183. Strangely, metal and glass, plastic and gears start to work.

"The Queen is missing" Is a complete set, i made for the WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE a 7 man show, starting today and a full month at Screaming Sky Gallery in Portland USA.

I see it like this: if my world is collides with the world of guys like F-plus, K Gosselin, DrilOne, Map Map , ZAm and Nervisw3k, then i need some guys to fight back, so i came up with this chess idea . "The Queen is missing!" O´right, i twist it a lil bit :) no Horses but Pigs, and no towers but big apes... maybe it doesnt make any sense this mix of creatures, but i decide to have some fun , just like i use to do as child, not worrying about looking good to people or make super clean or detailed sculpts. just have a little game in my mind... imagine this Gorillas droping those Handmade granades to enemies, and the pigs attacking with those corn hammers... hell thats FUN!

You can see theres no queen right now, but she will show up at some point ... (another twist here) if a buyer decide to save the queen, he should make a leap of faith with me, and the queen will be made as a comission (which i dont take very often) so i think it can be fun to be in contact with the buyer and make a personilized OG sculpt.

Mi participación para el Show WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE (DrilOne, Zam, F-Plus, Kevin Gosselin, Nerviswr3k Map Map y su servidor.)

El show es en Screaming sky gallery en Portland Oregon, USA. empieza Hoy y dura la exhibición todo un mes.

Mi idea fue hacer un pequeño ejercito, y de ahí la idea del ajedrez fue inmediata... no quise concentrarme tanto en la calidad de la escultura o la pintura (además de que el tiempo se me vino encima y se convirtió en una limitante) lo principal fue pasar un buen rato con los personajes, tal y como lo hacia de niño con mi plastilina, hacer lo primero que se me ocurriera, sin importar si tiene sentido que el rey es una rana o que lo que deberían de ser caballos y torres son puercos con martillos en forma de mazorca o un mandril y un gorila en lugar de torres. se complementan con un par de cocodrilos que hace de consejeros (alfiles) y un puñado de Dunnys customizados convertidos en peones anfibios.

La reina? esta perdida. si alguien desea rescatarla puede contactarme para hacer una única comisión, al gusto del interesado. No sera custom, si no una Chauskoskis 100% original.

order of make my own version of his argus i had to reconstruct a bit here

The name? i cant stop looking this as a broccoli :S So, this is the Scientific name of it.

En persona tiene más tonos verdes y unos toques metálicos y destellos

que no se aprecian en mis fotos... Ojalá se tomen el tiempo de analizar

que paso con las partes de la figura original, en realidad el gran cambio

lo hizo voltear el torso y usar las antenas como muslos, esculpí un poco el rostro

y complete algunas partes con la misma

textura que Mark utilizo. el nombre es porque por algo no dejo de verlo como un brócoli!
